Welcome from Chris Dobson – Principal at St James C of E Primary Academy.
On behalf of the children, parents, governors and staff I would like to warmly welcome you to St James CE Primary Academy. Our school is a place of high expectations, where we aim to provide all our pupils with a friendly, supportive and vibrant learning environment. We promote a love of learning and enable every individual to develop to their full God given potential.
Our school is a purposeful place underpinned by our shared Christian values; Trust, Honesty and Truthfulness, Friendship, Love, Respect and Perseverance. It is a fun place to be, with both creativity and enjoyment celebrated, alongside academic achievements. Above all our school is a safe place, at the heart of the community and where every individual is valued. Our school converted to an academy on 1st September 2016 joining a group of schools belonging to St Chad’s Academy Trust (SCAT). This is the Lichfield Diocese’s Multi-Academy Trust (MAT). This partnership of schools will provide us with opportunities to further increase the educational outcomes and opportunities for your children, whilst set within the framework of a Christian belief and practice.
We hope you enjoy looking at our website (www.st-james.staffs.sch.uk). It will give you a taster of what school life is like at St James’ and an insight into the range of activities and opportunities that are available. Hopefully it will also provide useful information for parents and guardians. We will be delighted if you would like to come and meet us, have a look around, see the children at work and discover how your child could thrive here. Please contact the school office to arrange a visit- we will be pleased to welcome you at any time.

St J
ohn’s is a two form entry school with currently 422 pupils on role. We have a diverse school population including 25% of our pupils coming from military families. St John’s is a vibrant and happy school with a positive, caring ethos. Our motto ‘welcoming all, learning together’ along with our core Christian values of friendship, perseverance and thankfulness permeate throughout our school.
We are extremely proud of our pupils. They are hard-working, polite and caring towards each other. The teamwork and the respect towards each other, is reflected in the excellent behavior of our pupils.
Our dedicated and experienced staff team all work together to ensure that we care and nurture all of our children as well as providing them with the very best education possible. ‘This outstanding church school puts children at the heart of everything they do.’ SIAMS Report 2016 (outstanding).
Pupil’s attainment and progress is good in all subjects. The high expectation of our staff and enthusiasm and commitment to learning from our pupils leads to high achievement across all subjects.
A welcome from St. John’s C of E Primary Academy.
We are a one form entry primary school situated within the town of Wednesbury.
At St. John’s we aim to give every child the best start possible to their education. The Early Years are crucial to a child’s development and our Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 enable the children to get their school careers off to a flying start. This is then built upon in Key Stage 2. Throughout the school we want our children to enjoy a wide range of experiences which bring the curriculum to life and make learning fun. All our staff work hard to ensure the best possible quality of education for the children in every year group.
At St. John’s C of E Primary Academy we are all enthusiastic learners with a thirst for knowledge and a desire to challenge ourselves, be able to persevere, respect one another, be polite, confident and considerate and believe in God and ourselves to achieve our goals. St. John’s C of E Primary Academy works very well in partnership with both staff and parents to support the school’s ethos and values. Parents are regularly welcomed and invited to take an active role in school life.
Our key Christian Values which our patron St John the Baptist taught us are:
- G-Generosity: We have generosity in our hands.
- E-Endurance: We have ambition and endurance in all of us.
- T-Tolerance: We have tolerance in our minds.
- F -Forgiveness: We have forgiveness in our hearts.
- A -Ambition: We have ambition and endurance in all of us.
- B -Belief: We stand on our own belief.
At St. John’s we are one big family and our values underpin how we interact with each other. We believe in each other and God to aim high and achieve.
