St Chad’s Cathedral Music Share– 19th June 2018

A very special Music Share – Tuesday 19th June 2018

Music Share is a singing project supported by a partnership between Lichfield Cathedral School and Lichfield Cathedral; with substantial funding from Arts’ Council England via the North West Midlands Music Education Hub.  Since Music Share was established in 2003 it has worked with hundreds of schools across the diocese and thousands of children.   On Tuesday 19th June a very special concert will take place in Lichfield Cathedral.  Many will have come across the work of Lichfield Cathedral’s Artist in Residence, Peter Walker, who has been responsible for some incredible work in the Cathedral including the 10,000 Angels exhibition and the Christmas Illuminations.  One of the culminations of his work will be to produce a statue of St Chad and this concert will be in aid of this cause.  The concert will involve pupils from almost all schools of The St Chad’s Academy Trust plus several schools with ‘Chad’ in their title.  It will include the world premier of three songs based on the life of St Chad by composer Thomas Hewitt-Jones with lyrics by Alan Freestone and Ashley Hall BEM – all three will be in attendance.  The Boy Choristers of Lichfield Cathedral will also participate in what should be a fun-filled evening!

Walk To School Week May 16th – May 20th 2018

Walk to School Week, taking place each May, is a country-wide celebration of walking. Each year Living Streets puts together a fun themed challenge to take on while walking to and from school. In 2017 400,000 children and their families joined the challenge and got a taste of the many benefits the simple act of walking can bring.
